Late last month, Hurricane Harvey tore through parts of Louisiana and my home state of Texas, leaving many people displaced and in serious need of support. I grew up in a Houston suburb called Katy—an area greatly affected by the storm—and people I care about are now trying to get back on their feet after losing their homes and possessions.

Contributing to the J.J. Watt Foundation

Earlier this week, a group of us at Hillard Heintze held a meeting about how we as a company could assist victims of Hurricane Harvey and decided we would raise money for the J.J. Watt Foundation’s Houston Flood Relief Fund. Watt is a defensive end for the Houston Texans NFL team, and his foundation has already raised more than $29 million.

Our CEO, Arnette Heintze, has generously volunteered to match a portion of whatever Hillard Heintze employees raise. We employees have already agreed to:

  • Donate the budget for our next snacks order for the office break room and our monthly company lunch to Watt’s relief fund.
  • Host a company potluck next week.
  • Volunteer at the Greater Chicago Food Depository by helping to package items to send to Texas.
