Larry Bowman

Vice President, Security Risk Management

Larry Bowman brings more than 25 years of security risk management experience in both the private and public sectors to his role at Hillard Heintze. He is a proven leader in creating and managing high-quality, cost-efficient security initiatives that respond to organizational needs and fulfill business objectives.

Prior to joining the Hillard Heintze team, Larry spent more than two decades at the Atlanta Braves, where he advanced as the Director, Senior Director and then Vice President of Stadium Operations and Security. Larry oversaw multi-million dollar game and ballpark expense budgets. He also coordinated all game operations including logistics, life safety, first responders, support services such as emergency medical services and maintenance, and crisis communication and management. Larry developed and implemented standard operating procedures and training programs for safety and security operations based on assessments, audits, and industry standards and best practices. He consulted for several All Star games and World Series, and introduced technology-based innovations to improve stadium security, including social media monitoring, mass notifications, geo-spatial venue mapping and imbedded computer-aided dispatch (CAD) 911 operators.

Before joining the Atlanta Braves, Larry served as the operations manager for the Greensboro Coliseum Complex in North Carolina, where he supervised 24 full-time and over 200 part-time employees, and oversaw event management, guest security and safety, and risk management policies and procedures. He also directed and led an efficiency assessment that resulted in a $42 million facility renovation and expansion, and created and managed time/task metrics to reduce costs and increase labor efficiency.

Larry earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and his Master of Arts degree from the Ohio State University in public policy/political science. He was named the 2014-2015 National MLB Sport Safety and Security Professional of the Year. Larry is certified in the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS).

Larry is a member of a wide range of professional security organizations, including the FBI Citizens Academy, the Advisory Board for the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) and ASIS International.
