Client’s Challenge: A Massive Subterranean Complex
One of the most critical storage sites in the United States is a highly secure facility occupied by multiple public and private sector tenants, including government agencies and Fortune 500 enterprises with precious assets and high-threshold requirements for storage and physical security.
The vast complex includes miles of roadway encompassing more than 100 acres. Every day, thousands of personnel enter the site including federal and employees as well as vendors and contractors.
Our Solution: The Value of an Objective, External Perspective
The Chief Security Officer of the corporation that owns and operates the facility put it bluntly. “Security is everything here,” she said. “What are we doing right? What are we doing wrong? And what should we do to fix it?”
Hillard Heintze had been selected for this sensitive assignment based on our team members’ 30 years of experience protecting U.S. critical infrastructure and key resources as well the formal, authorized status of its personnel, headquarters and security operating practices with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies that share related missions.
Impact on the Client: Key Findings – and a Set of Recommendations to Improve Outcomes Over Time
The analysis, key findings and recommendations emerging from this review have been used to form the foundation of the security strategy, program and operations at this venue.
Unplugged: The Project Manager's Post-Engagement Perspective
“The security at this facility was exceptional. Our team observed, reviewed and validated the use of best practices throughout the complex.
As with any multi-tenant facility, however, much of the risk lies in the discrepancies in security practices across tenants. We helped the client bring a closer focus on standardizing certain practices, and integrating critical security operations across the facility.”
