Good morning.  Over the past week, I have spoken about the importance of being grateful and giving back and how organizations can effectively use corporate social responsibility (CSR) to improve the community around them.  Today, as we wrap up this series on giving and CSR, I want to talk about something more specific.

Today is Giving Tuesday, a day dedicated to the nationwide online effort to raise funds for and bring awareness to nonprofit organizations.  Last week, I wrote about the wonderful work conducted by Gilda’s Club Chicago.  This organization fills a critical gap for those who need support during their cancer journey.  Supporting Gilda’s Club Chicago will allow them to continue to offer programming and activities free of charge. Today, I ask that you head over to their website and donate $10 – or an amount that fits your budget – to become a Friend of Gilda.  You can use the hashtags #GivingTuesday and #FriendofGilda to show your support on social media networks. And don’t forget, supporting Gilda’s Club and other organizations doesn’t end with Giving Tuesday.  So whether you join a board, roll up your sleeves to serve a meal or simply open your checkbook, there are many ways to get involved and help others.  I can personally assure you that it is an enriching and rewarding experience.
