Senior Director, Security Risk Management

As a versatile security management professional, Roger Goodes brings to the Hillard Heintze team more than 37 years of experience in executive protection, physical security, investigations, risk and threat analysis and mitigation, policy compliance evaluations, and process review and improvement. Roger has developed and implemented strategies to improve effectiveness, efficiencies, reduce waste and support business goals for a variety of clients. His ability to develop strong partnerships across functions, levels and cultures has helped clients accomplish individual and mutual goals and objectives.

As Director of Security Services at Anthem, Inc., Roger oversees the health insurance company’s Corporate Security programs, including executive protection, physical security technology systems, risk and threat monitoring, the 24-hour Security Operations Center, international traveler safety, international vendor security, procedure and standard review, audit and compliance, and budget management. In this role, Roger transformed the executive protection program to better align with current risk and threat assessments as well as the company’s changing culture.

Over the course of his 26-year career with the U.S. Secret Service, Roger served as the Special Agent in Charge of the Indianapolis Field Office, where he directed the operations and activities of 19 special agents and administrative staff for all agency activity throughout the majority of the state of Indiana. In addition, he was responsible for reviewing, modifying and approving all security operations plans for Presidential, Vice Presidential and dignitary visits to Indiana based on known and suspected threats, risks and other factors. As the Special Agent in Charge and Inspector at the Office of Inspection, Roger provided operational oversight for the internal affairs division, which conducted internal personnel investigations, policy compliance reviews and other sensitive projects as requested by the Director of the U.S. Secret Service. From 1994 to 2001, Roger served on the elite Presidential Protective Division (PPD), providing protection to the sitting U.S. President and his family throughout the world.

Before joining the U.S. Secret Service, Roger served as a police officer in Birmingham and Beverly Hills, Michigan.

Roger earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. He has also earned Certified Protection Professional (CPP) accreditation through ASIS International.
