Kent A. Chrisman
Kent Chrisman is a highly skilled corporate security and emergency management expert who develops and provides enterprise-wide security services and best practices for clients. Having served in the U.S. Secret Service and as Security Director and Chief Security Officer for Fortune 500 multinational corporations, Kent brings a wide range of experience to his role at Hillard Heintze. He has created the programs necessary to secure continued business operations and drives innovation in processes, technologies and services.
Before joining Hillard Heintze, Kent led the Global Security Program at Kimberly-Clark Corporation as its Director of Global Security. He helped maintain a safe and secure environment for 43,000 employees, business operations, supply chain and enterprise assets for the global consumer products company with operations in 36 countries and products sold in more than 175 countries. Kent led a global restructuring program at the company that resulted in annual savings of $4.6 million and focused the department on core security responsibilities.
As the first Director of Global Security for Flowserve Corporation, Kent identified, developed, implemented and maintained the global security program to reduce risks and limit liability exposure for the company’s 18,000 employees and operations in 55 countries. In addition to coordinating physical security, traveler security and threat management, Kent developed and implemented a ground-up domestic and international security program consistent with manufacturing industry standards. He also helped form its Threat Management Program and lead its Workplace Violence Threat Assessment Team.
While serving as Senior Director of Corporate Security and Chief Security Officer for Devon Energy Corporation, Kent oversaw the creation of its domestic and international corporate security program, including an intelligence analytical function that was consistently recognized as one of the best in the industry. He and his team designed the global security operations center that provided monitoring of video surveillance, access control, emergency calls for service and mass notification during incidents. In addition, he was the architect of an executive and personnel protection program that provided logistical and security support to senior executives, the board of directors, and other personnel traveling to high threat environments. He received the 2012 Security Technology Executive Magazine “Security Innovation Gold Medal Award” as Project Manager for the security design of Devon Energy’s new corporate headquarters.
During his 13-year career with the U.S. Secret Service, Kent served as the Assistant to the Special Agent in Charge of the Oklahoma Field Office, Lead Instructor at the U.S. Secret Service Training Academy and Special Agent at the Omaha Resident Office, Chicago Field Office and Forensic Services Division. He also served as Deputy Sheriff with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Omaha and spent six years in the U.S. Air Force as a non-commissioned officer.
Kent earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He graduated from the Senior Executive Program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and the Executive Leadership Program at Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business. He is a member of ASIS International and the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP).
