Chris Deringer, CPP, PCI, PSP
Chris Deringer is highly regarded for orchestrating global security and protective services for high-profile organizations and is frequently invited to speak at events on a variety of safety and security topics. Managing a team of safety and security experts, he conducts security assessments and develops security master plans and strategies for numerous clients, including those in the commercial, healthcare, education and petrochemical sectors. Using his 19 years of experience, Chris formulates highly effective strategies, continuously mitigating risk and ensuring flawless enterprise scaling.
Previously, Chris served as the Associate Director of Crisis and Security Consulting for Control Risks Group. He consulted with clients throughout the world to manage engagements in the areas of security, enterprise risk management, crisis management, and business continuity. In addition, he developed and presented practical, tailored security training to executives and employees from a multitude of organizations. He also assessed and recommended improvements to the security of facilities for dozens of clients throughout the United States and Mexico. Other highlights of his time with the firm include managing stellar security implementation for dozens of special events and two Fortune 500 corporate campus construction projects and establishing an enterprise risk management and security program for a Fortune 500 healthcare company.
As the Global Physical Security Director for Palantir Technologies, Chris led a team of six full-time employees and 100-plus contractor staff members who were responsible for monitoring and responding to security events and incidents in more than 50 locations worldwide. He established and managed a full-time executive protection program and a global operations center to serve as the company’s central security hub on a 24-hour basis. In partnership with all levels of management, Chris educated employees, increased their awareness and ensured ongoing compliance with established policies and procedures. Furthermore, he built an entire security department from the ground up during a period of rapid corporate expansion from 200 U.S.-based employees to more than 1,400 employees worldwide.
Chris is a U.S. Army veteran who served in security and intelligence roles in Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar, as well as other countries in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. While serving as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst and Law Enforcement Liaison for Joint Interagency Task Force West at Camp Smith, Chris conducted in-depth research and documentation to identify individuals, methodologies and technical capabilities associated with drug trafficking organizations and transnational criminal enterprises.
Chris is expected to graduate with his Master of Business Administration from Our Lady of the Lake University in August 2019. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Phoenix. Chris is one of a small group of security experts throughout the world to have earned all three ASIS International Certifications: Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) and Physical Security Professional (PSP). He is a member of ASIS International, the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) and InfraGard.
Chris has been awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal and Army Achievement Medal.
