Message From The Partners

After our retirement from public service, we came together principally through our individual commitments – which we had pursued in our different careers, over decades – to some values and beliefs that we had discovered we shared in common.

One was our mutual commitment to excellence, in our work, in what we asked of ourselves, in what we expected of the people we led and the teams and task forces we contributed to. Another was an acute preference for candor – and speaking the truth without embellishment, without the desire for reward or concern that the audience wouldn’t be pleased with the message.

And a third, among several others, was an awareness sharpened over the course of many different experiences – from split-second decisions made in the line of fire to command-level judgment calls made after hearing out dozens of experts and specialists – an awareness of the value of diversity. A diversity of ideas. Of perspectives. Of culture. Of experience.

Out of these values and beliefs, and a recognition of these in each other, we created Hillard Heintze – to give back to the constituencies that had supported our success for years and to continue serving others. We quickly discovered something else: that across the network of professional contacts we had established over the years, there was a wellspring of interest – and an enormous opportunity – to pull together an exceptional spectrum of talent in security and in investigations.

It’s our heartfelt belief that achieving excellence in these two domains – security and investigations – isn’t ever achieved by one person alone. No single individual – no matter how widely accomplished, credentialed or acknowledged by their peers – brings all of the ideas, insights and innovation to the table. Excellence delivered, not just once but systematically over time, from any team, is fundamentally about collaboration – whether it’s bringing safety and justice to a city of several million people, securing a U.S. ballpark filled with 60,000 fans, protecting a motorcade conveying an international leader and his family through a city grid-locked in late-afternoon traffic, or investigating one of this century’s most complex and sophisticated financial crimes.
